About healthcare market data explained

Most healthcare sales data starts as public records: the NPPES registry of National Provider Identifiers, CMS certification and enrollment files, and the cost reports hospitals file with Medicare each year. The records are free, but they are hard to read and easy to misread. A taxonomy code is not a specialty, a mailing address is not a practice location, and a bed count depends on which line of the cost report you take.

These guides explain what each public source contains, how to look a record up, which fields a sales team can trust, and where the gaps are. They are written for sales leaders, revenue operations and analysts who build territories, size markets or check a vendor's data. Where a guide uses a count, it says what was counted, the universe and the month.
